bar code scanning systems
Linear Bar Code
A linear bar code is a series of white and black stripes or "bars". When applied or "scanned", the white spaces reflect the laser light, and the dark or black spaces "absorb" the light. The sequence of reflections and absorptions create a sequence of 0's and 1's. Depending upon the bar code symbology, the sequence of 0's and 1's is transformed into a unique sequence of alpha-numeric characters.
Two Dimensional Bar Code
A two-dimensional bar code is read horizontally and vertically allowing more information to be encoded in a smaller footprint than in a linear bar code.
QR Codes
QR codes encode dense information including links to web sites in a small square footprint. In this DC a robotic QR code reader tracks carton level inventory.
